At a time when many schools are losing their libraries and librarians, ÌÒÑÕÃÛÉ« remains true to the beliefs expressed in the quote above. We believe that there is more to acquiring knowledge and enjoying literature than easy access to the Internet and e-books. Today the school library is more important than ever. Students need expert help in negotiating the sea of information available to them, and e-books are only one of the many ways for students to discover and enjoy literature. Reading remains a key cornerstone of education, and learning is all about understanding the answers to questions, not just trying to find information.
The Wanstall Library provides materials to support the curriculum and leisure reading material for staff and students. The library supports and enhances the curriculum by careful selection of multimedia materials such as books, magazines, and online full-text research databases. The goal of our program is to promote reading and help students to do effective research.
We are committed to the idea that there is a book for every child, and our job is to help him find it. We are here to provide resources for teachers, children and their parents. We can help to find the right book.
The school library is many things to many people. The images above are only a few of the many contacts made each day. The Wanstall Library provides seating areas for leisure reading, quiet study, group study, practicing speeches, playing chess, storytelling, and many other activities. We know the boys. We know their names, their families, their interests, their favourite books, their pets, their favourite subjects. A library is much more than a room full of books.
